Good Book: The Bizarre, Hilarious, Disturbing, Marvelous, and Inspiring Things I Learned When I Read Every Single Word of the Bible

David Plotz reveals and interesting and often funny at the actual writings within the Hebrew Bible. He comes from an agnostic point of view stating that he is not a very observant Jew but still identifies with the religion. His explanations of the stories and events are clear and easy to follow and he sometimes relates them to modern times. His book is sometimes skeptical of God as well as people and the events that occurred, especially in their literal sense. He often criticizes God's actions when it comes to killing and punishing innocents. All in all I think its one of the most interesting books I've read in a long time. As an agnostic myself I find the book to be interesting and very revealing as to the actual events described in the bible. This book is not geared to convince either way, just mainly to inform. I plan on reading it again in the future. I only wish that he would write a New Testament version but he states clearly that he does not plan on doing that since he is Jewish and the New Testament is not his Book. I recommend this to everyone non-religious and religious alike.
