In Vince Flynn's latest Mitch Rapp novel, we are taken back to the time shortly after Rapp has been recruited and trained by the CIA as an assassin. Rapp has been spectacularly successful in assassinating members of a terrorist Muslim group who have been responsible for multiple terrorist attacks. When Rapp takes out his next target, a Libyan Oil minister, he discovers a trap has been set for him, and he barely escapes with his life. Rapp is wounded, and the rest of the novel deals with unraveling how Rapp was betrayed. Only a handful of people even know of the "hit" list that was prepared for Rapp, and Rapp begins to suspect that someone in this inner circle sold him out.

This was a face-paced novel, and as is usual with Vince Flynn, he pulls no punches with his depiction of politicians as duplicitous hypocrites interested only in furthering their careers and lining their pockets. Those who tend toward political correctness would do well to avoid Flynn's novels altogether. His unflattering portrayal of weak-kneed liberals and bureaucrats is continued in Kill Shot, although one of the main protagonists in Kill Shot could best be described as a thuggish Neanderthal who hardly fits the "liberal" mold.

I liked Kill Shot and it was a very good read. This isn't the best book by Flynn, hence the four star rating, but it was still plenty good enough! Four Stars for Kill Shot!

*PS - For those who are Vince Flynn fans, note that this is Flynn's first book since he was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Welcome back!!!
