I have always loved reading personal memoirs about East Africa. This one about Zimbabwe in the 1990s-2007 depicts the struggles of a native white couple to survive in Mugabe's Zimbabwe. The violence and tactics used by the government is appalling. The author left his parents' "backpacker lodge" in the early 1990s, but often returns to support them and assess the conditions. I respect his parents for trying to maintain a life in Zimbabwe against overpowering odds. Proponents of powerful central government should read this to see just how terribly bad it can go.....
