I didn't hate this book but there were a few things that kept me from loving it. Namely that it felt like a partial retread from Kinsella's Shopaholic books. I'm quickly tiring of the scatterbrained female protagonist trope, which I've Got Your Number's Poppy unfortunately was. And while I liked Sam, some of his reactions to Poppy seemed a little bit over the top and uncalled for. In addition to this, while I thought the idea of footnotes was cute, they didn't quite work for me. Maybe that's because I was reading on my Kindle and every time there was a footnote, I'd have to move the cursor over to it, go read the footnote and come back to the sentence. That's fine with a paper copy, but I found it intrusive and annoying here. Not to mention that the subsequent footnotes sometimes spoiled the rest of the chapter and it wasn't always easy to avoid seeing them on the page (note: if the footnotes were true footnotes instead of endnotes, this would not have happened). All in all, this was a quick, easy read and provided me with a few hours worth of procrastination from reading my textbooks and writing a term paper, so I can't complain too much.
