** spoiler alert ** I nearly had to stop reading this one after the first few chapters. It started off with some pretty graphic hard-core sex, which, because I didn't know either of the characters yet, just read like porn. It made me uncomfortable enough that I ended up just skipping over a lot so I could get to the next chapter and see if it got any better. And I'm so glad I did!

This book is really just a backwards version of most traditional romance novels. The men start with the sex (which is really the only option, given Ryan's hang-ups) and then work on getting to know each other and on building their relationship.

I loved that they each took a turn being the pursuer and demonstrating to the other how much they were willing to give up (even if it was just their pride or their past hurts or their defensiveness) in order to be with the other.

I liked Ryan. I liked how he was damaged enough to not see how amazing he is, but hopeful enough to be willing to believe Jayden when he tried to convince him. And then brave enough to see what it was he'd thrown away and to try to get it back.

And I loved Jayden! I loved that he knew what he wanted and went for it. And that he didn't back down when Ryan kept trying to make him. What I loved most of all, though, was how he had enough self-respect to know when to walk away and find someone who would treat him as he deserved--even if the new relationship didn't have quite the same passion. But then again, I loved that he had the courage to give Ryan another chance once he'd proved he deserved it.
