If you enjoyed the travel component of Eat Pray Love, then you'll probably enjoy this book. Strayed is a beautifully descriptive writer, to the extent that I reread several parts of her journey on the PCT multiple times. She makes you feel as if you are there, and as someone who has never had the privilege (or audacity) to tackle major portions of the trail, its enchanting.

However, if Elizabeth Gilbert's personality and choices left you raging and rolling your eyes, than Strayed's might drive you to commit a felony. The almost non-existent line that exists in her mind while making decision, such as deciding to hike the trail, accept rides from strangers and do drugs astound me. The lead-up to her trip is a painful read, and I almost abandoned it several times.

Overall though, I really enjoyed the book, and read it in a day. It is exceptionally well-written, and as a backpacking enthusiast, who wouldn't want to hear about a trail that few have the privilege to see so much of.
