What a delightful use of a real place with a vivid imagination and fictional characters. I did wish there was more time with the adventures for Jack and Ruthie. Sooo I hope the next two books deal more with the adventures and less adult conflicts. I think this series can really get the younger tweens to appreciate history and the time periods used in book one are fascinating, not to mention showing tweens that research on a subject can be fun. Three cheers to this author for making history fun and bringing it alive with magic... even if I already love that subject.
