An academic exposition on American foreign policy and its global effects. My first exposure to this book was in reading the famous speech Hugo Chavez made at the UN General Assembly in September 2006. I really don't want to believe that things are as dark as Chomsky describes, but it is hard to refute the facts as presented by a professor of linguistics from MIT. Most of his book is simply looking at what people have said at different points in time and drawing conclusions about what the statements mean when placed side by side. This, in my mind, separates him from any kind of conspiracy theorist - he is using their own words, not what others allege to have seen or heard about them. In the end, whether you agree with him or not, you will get deep insight into the forces that drive American foreign policy.
