really liked it

Julia Alvarez discusses the Hispanic ritual and coming-of-age ceremony, Quinceanera, in which a girl celebrates her fifteenth birthday. While I didn't appreciate the author's feminist view, which I felt was too negative at times, I did enjoy reading about the history behind this Latin custom. I feel this is a good book to read if you want to learn more about Quinceaneras. And after reading it, you'll either want one or wish you had one!
