Certainly a "coming of age" story about transitions, Summer People describes a young man's vacation experience as a driver and then some for a Miss Daisy sort of character. What he finds is superficial romance, how the "other half" lives and an unexpected relationship with an endearing woman with a somewhat questionable past. This book seemed to lack in some story development and left me somewhat dissatisfied -perhaps by design in an attempt to re-create the sensation experienced by the rather frustrated and lost protagonist stuck in a holding pattern.
