I don’t like reading books with lawyer characters. I just don’t like lawyers. ;-) I also greatly dislike psychobabble. I’m also not a huge fan of contemporary romance. Wow. That’s a lot of "don’t likes" for this book to overcome. But, this one had a bit more meat to it than the standard contemporary romance.

The story revolves around two sisters who were abandoned by their self-absorbed actress mother. The younger sister goes to live with her father in a secure and happy environment. The older sister is forced to fend for herself and becomes a money-loving divorce lawyer. As they grow older, the sisters distance themselves based on the past and their priorities.

I did really enjoy the evolution of sisterly relationships over time. The most interesting character is Joe. I wish more time had been devoted to him. Of course, this is romance so there’s a happily ever after, even if it is completely eye rollingly ridiculous. But, pretty much the whole book is a bit over the top.
