I think I liked this even more than
Batman and Robin, Vol. 1: Batman Reborn
, partly because it ties into
Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne
, which I started to read concurrently. Dick and Damian are still coping with Bruce's death, and Dick is doing especially poorly. His attempt to bring him back does not go very well, but it does feature an appearance by Batwoman, so that was cool! The real highlight of the book is Damian, though, who has grown a lot from his first appearance. I thought he only had daddy issues, but, oh boy, he's got mommy issues too! Poor kid's a mess, and his woeful observation that if Bruce comes back, he and Dick can't be Batman and Robin anymore, is surprisingly moving, coming from a violent demon child. Toss in the mysterious Oberon Sexton and his assistance in tracking down the Domino Killer, a search for clues FROM THE PAST, and revelations about the Wayne history, and you've got a fun, compelling read. I'd rate it higher if it weren't for the forgettable British villains and the bizarre Christian gang or whatever.
