it was amazing

T.S. Eliot wrote "I grow old, I grow old, I shall wear my trousers rolled." In contrast, the old man narrating this story does not wonder at his anomie, but instead busies himself with the affairs of others, from the vantage point of the Miramar hotel. This elder sits as the spoke of a wheel of stories, yearning for time, remembering youth, caring for young people. A genteel and beloved narrator, he makes the tour of gossipy heartaches, intrigues and life stories moving in and out of the hotel an absolute delight.
