it was amazing

Carlos Barral was a Catalan fisherman, editor, writer and poet. I visited his house in Spain. Because I have been in his home, I have the strange feeling of knowing him. He is, of course, dead. The Catalan language is closer to Latin than to Spanish. And the Catalan culture dates back to the Visigoths. It is *not Spanish.* Barral writes a poem about the pause in speech before leaving a lover at dawn. His ability to write the silences is what sets him apart as a great poet. He is not terribly known in the West. This is, in my opinion, a great oversight.
