Primrose Quarp's parents are supposed drowned in a storm and she becomes the ward of her Uncle Jack. She seeks refuge from the stares of the other townspeople with Miss Bowzer in the kitchen of the town restaurant (The Girl on the Red Swing) where everything is served on a waffle. Episodically structured. Typical Horvath quirkiness.
