"Just when you think you can't go on, somewhere a little light comes on." (207)
Hannah Ward, a corps de ballet dancer with the Manhattan Ballet, has dedicated her life to dancing since the age of seven. During the course of the novel, though, she begins to wonder when or if all of her hard work will pay off, and what she is missing by dedicating her entire life to dancing, to the exclusion of everything else. Impossible not to be reminded of the movie Center Stage. Bunheads didn't bowl me over but it's a good read.
