I loved the series but in the end it fell flat. The characters are well written and the overall writing and dialogue is sharp as is usually the case for Sawyer. He dealt particularly well with present day human issues but the challenge of imagining a different reality in present time is daunting. Book 2 (WATCH) was definitely the best and the series could have probably ended with just a bit of what was included in book three. In the 3rd book, I'm not quite sure what the "wonder" was and the one "big moment" seemed to me to be inconsistent with the logic of the evolution of webmind that was pretty well followed throughout the series. I would have preferred if Sawyer had actually left us with the "wonder" of what would happen next instead of trying to wrap it all up into a nice neat almost utopic future. I guess he just couldn't help himself.
