As a huge Austen fan this one the one work of hers I had never read before.

It's totally different than anything you've read before by dear Jane. Lady Susan is a horrible, horrible woman. You never find yourself feeling a little bit of pity for her, just contempt. But that said, it's a really good piece of drama. The epistolary style means a lot of the wit of conversations isn't there. You get brief descriptions of events that instead of being written out it's more like "Aunt Catherine went up to Longborne Friday past. It caused quite a bit of turmoil for little Meryton. Apparently Miss Elizabeth really cut her. But our Aunt did say that she had the nerve to not deny an engagement between you both. I can hardly think what to make of that. - your loving sister, Georgiana"

I'd like to know what happens with Fredrica and Reginald... or some more juicy details of the happenings of Langston. But I'm sure my 21st century mind is imagining a much more tawdry event than what Jane could've thought up.
