I would probably give this book a 3.5 if I could. Despite it's minor flaws, it was a good read. I found the book moved rather slowly, especially in the beginning and the descriptions were redundant and tedious. The author did an excellent job of exploring the motivations of each main character, allowing you to understand and sympatheize with each one. Overall, the story was original and well-written.
