I have to say, I love Jack McDevitt and especially the Alex Benedict series. But I have to say, this one is not the best in the series. Still a relatively interesting page-turner, but not nearly as good as the others. The A and B stories didn't really go together too well. And that A story, about an effort to save lost ships stuck going in and out of hyperspace (or space-time, or slipspace, or whatever you prefer to call it) for eternity just kind of fizzled out unsatisfactorily. The epilogue helped a bit, but, I don't know, maybe this is a setup for another book. It certainly seems like it, but it wasn't as effective as I'd have liked.

Still, McDevitt is one of the best and certainly this shouldn't chase you away from his work (just read the other Alex Benedict novels first and build up that goodwill that he so richly deserves).
