Paul Newman: A Life
by Shawn Levy
by Shawn Levy
Paul Newman was such a private person he apparently didn't sanction anyone as his personal biographer. Nonetheless, Shawn Levy, author if this biography of Newman's life, writes with remarkable detail and clarity. I was surprised to learn at the end of the book that Levy had never met or even talked to his subject. In any event Paul Newman was not only one of our best known actors, but a family man , accomplished race car driver, food entrepreneur and a philanthropist of unparalleled magnitude. The fact that his brand of Newman's Own foods has given over $300 million to charities speaks for itself. This book was a very enjoyable read.

Newman is one of my favorite people. Ditto regarding all you said. Did not know there was a bio out there. Reading 1Q84, right now. 900+ pages --- excellent read originally in Japanese - good, smooth translation. f
