This book has the unedited experiences of the survivors of the Tokyo sarin gas attack from those severely affected to mildly. The second half presents the experiences of ex and current members of the Aum cult who were not directly responsible. I read and reread bits as I made slow progress through it. Murakami proposes that looking at things as "them" vs. "us" is dangerous as well as missing the point. He examines how such events can happen and the impact on our lives. It's a book well worth reading.
