This is an old (men were wearing leisure suits) Spenser and a great read. Spenser is called to Cape Cod to locate a runaway wife. He and Susan are in the very early stages of their relationship. Hawk is a sort of extraneous character who is the muscle for a loan shark/general gangster type. There is a lot of the 'mystery' and even more of the relationships. Like most of Parker's work, it is quick easy reading. He will certainly be missed. The Spenser genre will continue under Ace Atkins' able creativity. Hopefully it will always remain as good.
