I'm a huge Austen fan, but this is my first P.D. James book. I liked the book, mainly because I was so happy to re-enter the world and characters of my favorite book. In many ways, James was successful in re-animating Elizabeth, Darcy, Jane, and Lydia (among others). However, there were moments of extraneous exposition and anachronistic commentary(I'm thinking specifically about the discussion of the jury and appeal system expressed by Darcy) that distracted from the many charms of the book and take the reader out of the Austen world. I would still recommend the book.
