The Cranes Dance
by Meg Howrey
by Meg Howrey
I could not put this book down. Kate Crane is a soloist in a New York ballet company. Her younger sister, Gwen, surpassed her to become a principal, but was in such a fragile mental state that Kate never allowed herself to feel anything about it. She watched her sister closely as they danced together and Gwen deteriorated. Kate finally called her parents to take Gwen home for rehab. This is a story of before and after. You find out as you go along exactly what happened before Gwen left and what is happening since. Kate finds that without her sister to focus on, she has some stress problems of her own. It was riveting and personal and I'm different for having read it.
