Fatally Flaky (Goldy Bear Culinary Mystery, Book 15)

** spoiler alert **
Had to read my review of Crunch Time, the book that actually comes after this one, but which I read just recently. I thought I remember Goldy being less foolhardy, impulsive and down right stupid. I was wrong.
As in Crunch Time, I was enjoying the books until near the end. Goldy just loses control of her self and just can't stop herself from inserting herself in situations she has not business being in. She is so stupid at the end, I almost wanted to root for the murderer and his partner in crime. She just behaved so irresponsibly and impulsively, with no real fore thought of what the consequences might be.
The murderer and his comrade are involved in spa that has some shady dealings. Godly is trying to figure out why her godfather and his friend, the town doctor that has been retired for awhile, but apparently realized something fishy was going on with the new young doctor in town and at the spa. Now Goldy knows the doctor is staying at the spa, before going on his honeymoon, and because she has finagled her way into being the cook as the spa temporarily (and not too subtlety either)she goes back to the spa to pick up her assistant and after finding a crucial piece of evidence. The former town doctor had hidden a flash drive that contained the evidence he collected so far.
Now, she is right in the midst of danger at the spa. Can she think rationally and cautiously - no she can't. She boots up the computer and puts the flash drive in and drinks her "iced coffee drink, which she has left unattended for hours. Now she already suspect the spa owner of sabotaging her desserts from the prior evening, which made some of the guests sick. But she drinks her iced espresso anyway and the murder now has her incapacitated, ready to kill and had the old doctor's evidence in his hands.
Well, of course she survives. I admit she was pretty resourceful in getting herself out of the situation - almost admirable. I still don't think it makes up for her classic stupidity and self absorption in trying to solve the murderers that she practically begs to be killed. I guess the author intended to have a very suspenseful and gripping ending. Instead, I get totally annoyed the the TSTL heroine.
