I thought James Bond was so much smarter than he was in this book! Who knew he had emotions and insecurities? Who knew he was so, so human!? I don't want to ruin the end of this book, but I couldn't understand why, if he is considered the best of the best, he was so blind to the writing on the wall staring him right in the face? As a proficient spy, he should know that everyone is suspect. Oh, well. I was actually pleasantly surprised to find that he wasn't as much of the annoyingly flawless and suave Don Juan pick-up artist that Hollywood portrays him to be. Poor broken-hearted Bond.
