"Step on a Crack" is everything you expect from a good thriller. I liked the main character, Mike Bennett, quite a lot, although sometimes I had the feeling his reactions were a bit shallow. His background story, with the ten kids and the dying wife was odd for this kind of book, but it made me shed a tear, which is not an ordinary feat. The hijack was well developed, though somewhat predictable. What I liked most about this book was the way it was narrated: by shifting continuosly the point of view, the author managed to keep things interesting, even when nothing was happening, plot-wise. I wouldn't say "Step on a Crack" is a masterpiece of its genre, but is a well written book that keeps you entertained, which is exactly what I want from this kind of book.
