Oh my god. This book blew my mind. Everything that I had expected from this novel was shattered within the first 50 pages. Some of the things this woman says about her children are mortifying. This subject is so original, a mother having a child and just not feeling a connection then having that form some sort of anti-connection that just grows and grows as he gets older. At first we think that maybe she was just a terrible mother, but as the novel progresses we see that she actually is raising the son from hell. The climax of this novel left me stunned. I had no words and just sort of sauntered about the house for a bit after finishing. I believe this will forever remain one of the greatest books I have ever read.
