Perhaps not the most exciting of John Le Carre's novels, but in my opinion, pretty good in its descriptions of particular characters, or should I say types? The perspective does change from Perry and Gail, an English couple taking a holiday in the Caribbean, to UK spymasters, and the Russian oligarch, Dima who is trying to defect to the UK. As is often the case, one is never completely sure where the loyalties of some of the characters lie, and the portrayal of the UK intelligence establishment is not terribly flattering.
