Brian Selznick's fans will enjoy this detailed look into how his award-winning book was turned into a movie. Unlike many "behind the scenes of how the movie was made" books, this one is authored by Selznick, and his influence is very clear in the artistry of the book. Illustrations from "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" are contrasted with still shots from the movie, short biographies of the actors and others involved in the making of the movie are given, and over all of it, Selznick's voice comes through as he takes the reader on a personal tour of the movie-making process. While it can be read cover to cover, students will also enjoy browsing through it. Purchase where Selznick has a strong following... there's much to enjoy.
