Two best friends, Jeddy and Ruben (the narrator, grown up) discover a dead body washed up along the Rhode Island seashore during the summer of 1929. This historical suspense shows the effects of Prohibition on Jeddy and Ruben, their families and friends in their small Rhode Island town. Fast paced narration shows the different sides of rum running, showcasing good versus evil, and the many shades of gray (even some government officials are shown as corrupt.)
