Groundbreaking? not likely but it was smart and clear. The author did a good job of making her point. She did a good job of offering facts and reliable information while also translating them with the use of poetry and emotional narrative.I especially appreciated how she didn't focus entirely on a small time frame but made an effort to connect contemporary issues with those of the past without being comparative or dismissive of either.A good and thoughtful analysis of both the gender and racial issues and the stereotypes that are the result of them.
