As The Crow Flies (Walt Longmire, #8)
by Craig Johnson
by Craig Johnson
Longmire smokes peyote and has his visions related to a case he's on but he's really not on. As usual Longmire stumbles into an incident while surveying sites for his daughter's wedding. He witnesses a woman plunge to her death off a scenic cliff. Johnson introduces a new character, a woman Indian police chief and former Iraq War veteran-Lolo, who has a chip on her shoulder. Lots of interesting and funny exchanges between the two in a relationship going from being arrested to mentorhood. But the wedding is about to happen and he's supposed to be planning it. Family is flying in from back East and Longmire is busy chasing suspects out of his jurisdiction. All the usual suspects are turning up dead or with alibis and you're never quite sure who the perpetrator is in this one up until the very end. Looking forward to seeing more of Lolo in the next installments-perhaps a hookup too.
