While much better than the early releases from this company, this book still has minor problems. One is the intended audience. The writing seems aimed at upper elementary readers, while the artwork is less likely to appeal to that age.
Still, this is a good overview of the life of Mandela, and the stark illustrations are good for the mood of the writing. I would hand this book to a middle school reader who is interested in the subject.
