it was amazing
bookshelves: adult-fiction
Read in December, 2008

I finished this one a few hours ago and it's still haunting me. I still haven't decided how I really feel about it yet. It has that unsatisfying feel a lot of great literature has. It's either a flippant, fun novel that has an unbelievably deep undercurrent - or - an incredibly deep novel that is uniquely meandering and jokey.

The characters were amazing and I was impressed with his portrayal of the young school teacher. His non-fiction has made me question his understanding of women at times, but his fiction has redeemed him. His depiction of small town Owl was reminiscent of any small Midwestern town, in both it's beauty and pitfalls.

I listened to this and the cast of characters is amazing! Each voice embodies the character and really brings them to life. A brilliant way to enjoy this work. I almost wish I was an English major again - I'd write a paper.
