This was not a bad book, but it wasn’t a brilliant one either. Then again, I haven’t expected it to be brilliant (when it comes to tie-in editions such as this one, I've learned to lower my expectations), and so I enjoyed it. I quite liked the way the elements from the original fairytale were incorporated into this interpretation. Weirdly, it sort of works. I do feel everything is a bit rushed in terms of the plot, but this isn't supposed to be a full on novel and in its current form I suppose the fast pace can't be helped. I am curious to see how it translates to the big screen. I haven’t seen it yet – it isn't out until the end of the month where I live – but I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure it's going to be stunning – visually, at least.
