These are great short stories. On a literary level, I should have given it more stars. But ten out of sixteen stories had death as a theme, which made the book kind of a downer. I mean, sure, Stephen King was the editor, but, gawd, out of the four thousand stories he read for this volume, couldn't he find a few more on themes other than death? Still, I appreciated the works in this volume, but truly enjoyed three:

"Balto" The story of a young girl whose day in court will decide, not only her father's fate, but hers as well.
"Wake" Yes, it's about death, but so original, human, funny, pathetic and well-told that it made my top three list.
"Wait" A science fiction/fantasy about what happens at an airport gate while waiting for the interminable fog to lift. Totally hallucinogenic and wonderful.
