This book reads more like a disseration or thesis. Chang tried to present all sides of the massacre but I think that her attempt at an unbiased view of Japan was unrealistic. I also felt that Changs narrative was very detached emotionally and that seems like it would be nearly impossible given the graphic and horrific content of this book. While I was not a fan of Chang's writing style, I do feel that this is a part of history of which we should all be made more aware.
