I couldn't resist picking up this book when I saw the sweet little baby feet on the cover. I'm a sucker for baby feet.

This memoir about a mother coming to terms with her second daughter's unexpected Down Syndrome diagnosis is a quick, engaging read. Hampton offers honesty as she works through a wide spectrum of emotions to discover joy and strength.

Her daughter is now two years old, so while Hampton can't provide insight on what it's like to raise a child with Down Syndrome to adulthood, her account of those first hours, days, weeks, and months with little Nella will be of great help and comfort to moms who find themselves in a similar position.

Readers of Hampton's blog (Enjoying the Small Things) may find this material familiar, but it was all new to me. Hampton is a gifted photographer, and the stunning pictures of baby Nella and her family enrich the narrative. Reading this book definitely makes me want to follow Hampton's blog for the continuing story of her lovely family.
