This is the story of a family who moves into a house on the coast to get away from the war and it's direct effect on the city where they lived. The house belonged to a couple whose young son drown and they eventually moved. The house is not empty when the Carvers move in though. This is not the kind of book I would normally read due to the creep factor, but I got through it. It is not too bad, but the ending was not exactly what I would have hoped. Pretty sad, but still good.
