Since this was listed in SLJ's Battle of the Books, I was expecting great things. I was slightly disappointed. I didn't like the main character at any point in the book The moral the book preached was a good one, just characters I couldn't related to. The one expletive in the book, GD, was totally unnecessary in my opinion.

Michelle I actually liked the book a lot. The characters are really corrupt, I agree.
Like you said, I too really enjoyed the moral of the book. I thought of Emily as "want" and "desire", and it resembled how much the wrong kind of want and desire can mess up a persons life.

Deborah Morgan Glad you liked it.
