I did a little more research about this book after finishing it and I wish I would have taken the time to learn more prior to reading. I think it would helped me to better understand the characters and to make those moments I spent with them more meaningful. Almost every time I had one of those "What the heck is happening?" moments where I felt a bit lost and not nearly "deep" enough for Vonnegut, he would throw one of those incredibly honest human moments at me that kept me from putting down an unfinished book for good. My rating more reflects my lack of "getting it" than the book itself I suppose which is why I'd like to read it again. This is a book that I'd like to read again, but perhaps with a friend or a book club in order to bounce thoughts and ideas off of in order to get the most out of my Slaughterhouse Five experience.
