it was amazing
bookshelves: humor, read-with-kids
Read from July 28 to August 30, 2015

I am now a firm believer in revisiting favorite books. I read this with Sean over the last few weeks and enjoyed it even more than I did when I first read it. Bryson does such a good job capturing the character of the AT and the spirit of what it is like to hike it. I am looking forward to seeing what Robert Redford does with the film (though not looking forward to the increase in crowds on the AT).

Quotes Alan Liked

Bill Bryson
“Black bears rarely attack. But here's the thing. Sometimes they do. All bears are agile, cunning and immensely strong, and they are always hungry. If they want to kill you and eat you, they can, and pretty much whenever they want. That doesn't happen often, but - and here is the absolutely salient point - once would be enough.”
