having lived in edinburgh for a few years in the early nineties when i was younger,in the area where part of this book is set i was always curious about this book, but im glad i didnt read it before now cause i know when i was younger id have thrown the book back down again! This book is so dark and graphic that it really isnt for everyone, but i found it fascinating and gripping, and a million times better than the film, which i thought at the time was disqusting and now realise that it has nothing on the book!
Welsh holds nothing back and he doesnt sugar coat anything, there are some really vile characters (begbie), and even more surprisingly there are characters that you'll find yourself rooting for, even though they have some terrible aspects to their character also!
I would really recommend this book to anyone who wasnt too sensitive, its well worth a read!
