really liked it
bookshelves: to-read-young-adult

A gut-wrencher in the best way possible. I laughed, I swooned, I cried, and then I laughed through my tears. A gorgeous depiction of first love, friendship, and death.

My two issues with the book are small, but I did drop a star because of them. First, Augustus' seeming perfection wore on me deep into the book. I felt like Hazel was a flawed, interesting character but didn't get the same depth or complexity from Gus. His unending heroic selflessness was unbelievable to me, and I wanted more rawness.

My other issue was with Van Houten. I don't want to give anything away...so that's all I'll say about him.

Overall, though? Bravo, John Green. And thank you.
