I really loved this story, mostly horribly sad but at times there is an ironic bit of human comicness in the midst. Usually experimental writing is not a form I relish but this story almost needs to be told in the stream of consciousness form. Faulkner said this would be his tour de force, even if he never put pen to paper again. That assured sense comes out in the bold themes he writes and in the authentic dialogue. Definitely a new favorite for me.
