really liked it

This was a fabulous book! I loved the characters and I really liked the theme of waiting woven through the storyline... waiting for Eddie to come home, waiting for him to fall in love with Penny, waiting for Peter to talk, waiting to hear from Mr. Mendel's family, Esther and Mr. Mendel learning to wait on the Lord and trust in his plan, etc. Usually waiting sounds boring, but it worked for this book. And it made it very easy to identify with the characters. I especially liked how Lynn Austin addressed the religious aspect of these people's lives in the books. Sometimes she gets a little heavy-handed (in my opinion) with religious speeches in her books, but this one had just the right amount to be poignant, yet flow nicely. Okay, this review is getting very long, so I will stop now! I'm sure you can figure out by now that I enjoyed it. :)
