Jeffrey Eugenides is a great author. The book is told from the perspective of a group of boys living in the same neighborhood as the four Lisbon sisters. Each are unique, beautiful, feminine. The boys are curious about the development of the girls. But this is a special case as each commit suicide. The questions that always haunts them is why and were they part of the cause? We'll never know the real reason. Could it be the stress of growing up in a liberating world to women yet being pulled along by expectations of society and family? Was it the strict parenting?
