it was amazing
bookshelves: sci-fi
Read in January, 2008

This was the book that started my love for Neil Gaiman. My husband handed it to me and told me that I "absolutely had to read this." So I did. I went into the book with the mind set of "oh, it's sort of sci-fi, I don't think I will really enjoy this, but I will read it to make my husband happy." By the 20th page I could not put it down. I was busy with classes, but for this book I found time to read it and I knocked it out within a week (which is fast for me).
Gaiman is a master at painting the scenes on his pages and drawing the reader in. The story is about a man named Richard who stops to help a girl who is laying and bleeding on the sidewalk. His girlfriend tells him to keep walking because the injured girl is just another homeless bum. When he stops to help, he falls through the cracks of the world he lived in, into a deep, dark world he never knew existed.
